HANGAR is an Artistic Research Center located in Lisbon, founded in 2014. HANGAR’s programmes provide spaces where artists, curators and researches from the Global South and Portugal can co-create and build social and creative networks to benefits their communities.
It is an independent space managed by artists and curators, a point of convergence between various areas of contemporary artistic practices, a place for experimentation, research and engagement with art as a tool for social change. HANGAR has become a place of inclusion and resistance on the Portuguese cultural scene and an internationally recognised pillar of support for Black artists in Portugal, in Lusophone Africa and internationally.
Objectives:

• Conduct seminars, workshops, educational and therapeutic events in the context of formal education.
• Offer vocational training.
• Create residencies and artistic development of creative networking platforms.
