Project DNA Space is an independent, non-profit, artist-led platform based in Lisbon, founded by multidisciplinary artist Serra Behar. It evolves from the ongoing project Project DNA: Restitching Memory, which investigates the reconstruction of collective memory through the symbolic reconfiguration of azulejos, understood as the cultural “skin” of the city.

Positioned between exhibition space, laboratory, and research platform, Project DNA Space proposes a hybrid model of artistic production that integrates participatory practices, critical thinking, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Its program brings together workshops, exhibitions, performances, and public encounters, activating the space as a point of convergence between artists, local communities, and international contexts.

At its core is the mission to “recode” a collective DNA , transforming fragments, differences, and dispersed narratives into new forms of continuity and belonging. In the context of a rapidly transforming urban landscape, Project DNA Space positions itself as a site of cultural resistance, experimentation, and collective meaning-making.
