Salto is a non-profit institution based in Lisbon, managed by Fungo — Association for Cultural Intervention and Dissemination. It aims to contribute to the dynamism, diversity, quality, and dissemination of the cultural offer in the national territory, by promoting various forms of contemporary artistic expression.

With an independent structure that combines artists' studios with a space dedicated to a regular program of exhibitions and other cultural events, Salto focuses on supporting artistic creation and production in all its multidisciplinary and poetic diversity. It values research, experimentation, reflection, and dialogue as essential engines for its work, the development of new knowledge and creative languages, and the building of bridges between artists and the community—both at a local and urban level, and across Portugal and the international scene.

Founded by Nicolai Sarbib in 2022, Salto quickly stood out as a dynamic platform and a space for encounters and synergies, through its own programming and curatorial initiatives, as well as through collaborations with artists, creators, and other cultural agents, both Portuguese and international.

From December 2024 onwards, Salto will intensify its programming, further consolidate its leadership structure, expand its network of national and international partnerships, and, for the first time, benefit from public funding to ensure its sustainability and strengthen its actions.

At this time, curator, writer, and researcher David Revés will assume the artistic co-direction of Salto, joining Nicolai Sarbib in guiding the institution’s vision and the development of its activities in the coming years.

Similarly, in 2025, Salto’s program will be supported by the Directorate-General for the Arts — Government of Portugal, and will include partnerships with Associação Alfaia (Loulé), Associação Aderno (Bussaco/Mealhada), and the independent space SOL (Nexø, Denmark) for the development of joint projects.
