Located in Campo de Ourique, Lisbon, Verso Gallery is a platform dedicated to the intersection of artist residencies, exhibitions, and public programs, with the purpose of expanding artistic circulation and fostering meaningful connections between the Global South and Europe.

Positioning Lisbon as a strategic point of convergence between different cultural geographies, Verso develops a curatorial program focused on contemporary practices that engage with questions of displacement, memory, belonging, and social transformation. The gallery operates as a space of production, visibility, and mediation, connecting artists, curators, collectors, and international institutions.

Its starting point was the creation of bridges for the circulation of Brazilian artists—particularly from the North and Northeast regions—within the European context, expanding their visibility through exhibitions, residencies, art fairs, and internationalization projects. From this foundation, Verso broadened its scope toward a wider transatlantic perspective, bringing together artists from different Global South contexts and fostering dialogue with both the institutional and market circuits in Europe.

Throughout its first year, the gallery presented six exhibitions, hosted five artists in residence, and established an ongoing program of activations and public projects. It also participated in its first international art fair, Art.PE – Contemporary Art Fair of Pernambuco, in Recife, strengthening its presence within the transatlantic circuit between Brazil and Europe. During this period, artists represented and supported by the gallery became part of important institutional collections, including MACAM – Museu de Arte Contemporânea Armando Martins, in Lisbon.

Verso has also invested in building partnerships with other cultural spaces and agents across the city, expanding its presence within Lisbon’s artistic ecosystem. Collaborations with spaces such as NowHere, alongside ongoing dialogue with curators, foundations, and local institutions, are part of this strategy of institutional consolidation and the strengthening of an international network for artistic exchange and circulation.
